Birds and Beast Say BBBRRRR....

Just as I was about to settle down and post a nice pre-spring blog we get unseasonably cold (but what are the norms these days?) A few leisurely days in the 60's with little wind and you let your guard down. We finally did get a couple inches of snow but this morning it was 9 below. The sparkling air crystallized;

Clark had to wear his sunglasses at coffee so he wouldn't get snow blind.

Sub-zero really strikes dread in the hearts of calving ranchers. We have one two day old baby and he's already tough but to come out wet when it's below zero is deadly. Thank God, no babies last night.

The feeders have come to expect goodies from me in the form of milk cubes. They turn from anonymous yearlings into cute pets once you initiate the relationship. They look forward to seeing me and I,them. As you can imagine it is a bittersweet relationship.
