The Wedding Party

So little time, so much blog...Got to catch up.

I couldn't get the time off from work so I quit my job at the restaurant after 15 1/2 years. ( been contemplating that for a long time) With my sister Becky coming out for the wedding, a trip to Shambhala for a meditation retreat and trips to check on Dad in Reno...it was time.

Becky drove out here from Reno, visited some friends in Douglas for a couple days, then we headed down to Fort Collins to pick up my brother Stan. By leaving around 4:30 am we avoided rush hour in Denver and arrived in Albuquerque well before most of the other guests.

We had time to explore the Los Poblanos Ranch - a historic hacienda, B&B, and a working organic farm, mountain vistas, 25 acres of fertile fields, producing lavender, melons, squash and okra, blossoming gardens, golden autumn sunlight. Even a remarkable Lotus garden which intrigued me.

Fresh gourmet breakfast made daily with seasonal local produce and eggs from Los Poblanos Organics with Starbucks coffee and Tazo tea. What a glorious place to spend a couple days!

Wine and homemade goodies were available from the kitchen and were enjoyed in the patio while more guests arrived . One of the wonderful aspects of planning well in advance...the wedding party commandered the entire Inn for the weekend. It was like being home with the family even though many members were still to be introduced. At least you were reasonably sure that the folks you were meeting were to be future in-laws, friends of the bride or groom or staff at the Inn.

Kash and her flowers

I must at this time acknowledge the hurculean efforts of Cole's mother Kash. She worked tirelessly and joyfully all summer to produce as near to perfect an event as I have ever witnessed. From raising flowers for all floral arrangements and bouquet, paper-cutting tediously the colorful motifs for the tables and the even finer cutting on tissue for the papel picatto banner around the patio. She and Serena left no detail unattended. It was such a fine occasion.Cole's family provided the music.

And ...here comes the bride. Oh, wait...Here come the mariaches. The bio for Serena's photo site describes her parents; a Jewish Mariachi and a Buddhist Cowgirl. That's why she is so unique
