Spring Sunsets

Spring emerges...

... and other things emerge from the swampy lagoon.

And what do you think this man is smiling about?

The grass is getting green and the cow family is happy!

But there is a pile of shit waiting in the wings.

We're getting five days of unallocated (free) water and the center pivot is defunct again. The new seeding is looking good but that water sure would do it better. The only guy who can fix these things has a long waiting list (bless his heart) and on the last day of free water the job is done. (bless his heart) And this is only the beginning....

But there is a redeeming factor at the end of the day that can sooth your soul and inspire you to go on.

And it's never the same...

And it's there for us if we just look up. Just ask this guy.

Soooo....

I have decided to make an attempt to rekindle my affair with the Blog. So many times I have been inspired to enter some new revelation only to let myself be discouraged by the fact that timeliness had escaped me and daily duties had disabled me. Well, enough of excuses and my apologies to anyone who may have been looking me up for a little entertainment.

If anyone has checked with my brother's blog, Stan's Blog they would have a pretty good idea what goes on in my life as we have become pretty well connected over the last 4-5 years. My Dad passed away in December, less than six months after his wife Susie, and Stan, Becky and I dismantled and dispersed everything that represented their earthly existence in two weeks time. The shock of that statement of impermanance will linger for a long time.

Pat and Stan like to come up "to the Ranch" frequently to escape "the house that had not become a home" for them as they searched the market for property to buy. After a discouraging attempt three years ago to settle in the Denver metro area, and a return to Colorado last spring to investigate Fort Collins, they finally hit the jackpot. They found a sweet house in a nice, quite neighborhood, centrally located with a great sunny kitchen and many fine finishing touches. I'm so glad the issue is resolved and I get to keep my brother in close proximity.

Stan and I share many interests including cooking, trying new wines, gardening, and a fascination for the Buddhist philosophy. I had returned from a five day retreat at Shambhala Mountain, near Red Feather Lakes, two weeks ago and Stan and Pat had arrived at the ranch a little earlier than I. Usually after one of these sojorns I arrive home a little disoriented and it may take me days to get back into the swing of things. This time was so different...

There was a giant bouquet of white and lavender lilacs on the counter, the refridgerator was full of fresh fruits and veggies, dinner was on the stove and there were two bottles of red wine. It was definately the best homecoming ever! Clark brought in my overnight case and suitcase and I appreciated the men in my life so much.
