Alas Spring ...and sometimes the wind don't blow

Last month after SF, CA, I finished my gardening of last year by digging up the last of the last crop. There are still garlic and Egyption onions but they are always coming and going. I have been preparing the beds and planting a few spring seeds. My beds get easier to work each year as they are never walked on and the fertilizer (compost) is only applied to the growing area. This year all I've had to do is loosen the soil with a fork and break up the soft clods a little with a hoe, being very careful not to excessively injure the worms. (sorry guys for being so invasive; keep up the good work!) The feeder steers have gone to "greener pastures" and will be in the freezer in three weeks. The new crop of babies are entertaining us with their racing, bucking, and general high tailing it around the pasture, with the all time favorite game of "king of the mountain" on the ever growing manure pile.

Clark just finished building a small pole barn for extra shelter from sun and weather. I helped him put on the roof (honest)
