Never too old for Backyard Camping
It's been a gruesome summer with temperatures near 100 degrees for weeks. Even my tactic of closing and opening windows when the temp is the same inside as out is not very effective when there is no breeze at night. At least it does get into the 60's but the low doesn't occcur until the wee hours of the morning.
I've been layering as much mulch as I can on the gardens so Clark won't have to be too attentive while I'm in Cleveland visiting my Grandma with Jacob, my grandson. I can only hope for even a slight cooling trend for that week. With his cutting, baling, picking up and stacking of the hay in the height of the season, he is lucky to get 3hrs of sleep for every 12hr shift in the field. Sleeping in the daytime just leaves you feeling broiled!
We finally brought up the bedroom air conditioner. In order to not have it running all the time I finally did what I've been threatening to do for weeks. I got out Stan's tent and put it up. How glorious! There are screens all around the upper half so you have the benefit of watching the stars and moon move across the night sky. No bugs, no cats (although Bad Boy attacked Clark's toe through the tent right off the bat) and COOL, FRESH NIGHT AIR.
Went to an auction briefly yesterday. Was sooo hot I started to melt and neither of us saw anything we wanted. But it was worth a shot of two of Wheatland's oldtimers, there to enjoy the shade at this social event.
