Over the river and through the woods....
Once again I've fallen behind. I like to travel but I find it increasingly difficult to get back into the groove when I get home. Even if I feel I've caught up with my duties before I go, when I get home everything feels like it is out of control. Clark keeps a tidy home while I'm gone but the yard and gardens went wild from the rains that finally came the day I left for Ohio. So now, a month later, I'm getting a grip. Stan and Pat will be coming up for Labor Day so I have a sense of direction. I seem to do better with deadlines. Otherwise I just drift along in Retirement Lala Land.
So the trip to Ohio was a good one. I made up my mind that Jacob, my grandson would meet his 94 year old great-great grandma. At seventeen he never had met my Dad. My grandma is probably the most cherished person in my life so I really wanted this to happen. My brother Phil came from Virginia and my aunt Susie from New Hampshire.
We picnicked in Georgie and Frannie's spacious yard surrounded by hardwood forest. I wished I had a tape recorder to capture what sounded like a jungle out there. There were new birdsongs in the day and at night a raucus of crickets, locusts, and tree frogs.
Toasting to 95yrs old next year
